Kidney beans are safe for dogs
Kidney beans are safe for your dog. They are high in protein and fiber and a good source of thiamine, folate, iron, magnesium, and zinc. Never give your dog raw kidney beans. Raw kidney beans contain a high amount of a toxin, called phytohemagglutinin, that attacks the intestinal lining and causes severe diarrhea and vomiting. The toxin can be deactivated by boiling. When cooking kidney beans, avoid adding any seasoning or ingredients that may be harmful to your dog. Avoid using canned beans since they can be high in sodium. Feed in moderation since beans can cause gas and bloating.
